A celebrated interior designer and proud Baldwin Design Authority member, Deana Duffek is known for creating layered, soulful spaces that feel both refined and deeply personal. As the owner of Pure Design House, her work seamlessly blends modern architecture with natural materials, warm textures, and intentional detail — crafting homes that are elevated yet effortlessly livable.
For this project, Deana turned inward, designing her own home in Laguna Beach as a reflection of her lifestyle, surroundings, and love for organic modern design. Every material choice was thoughtfully curated to balance warmth, texture, and timeless sophistication. This home isn’t just designed — it’s lived in. Inspired by the California coast and rooted in craftsmanship, it embodies comfort, beauty, and intentional living.
Designing her own home allowed Deana to fully explore the elements she loves most — natural stone, warm woods, layered textiles, refined brass accents, and thoughtfully integrated technology.
Inspired by the coastal light of Laguna Beach and the harmony between modern architecture and organic materials, the space was created to feel calm, grounded, and luxurious without ever feeling precious. Mixed metals bring depth and character, while smart home elements from Level Electronics were incorporated to seamlessly blend design and modern living.
The mood board reflects her approach:
• Warm neutrals grounded in stone and wood
• Texture through fabric and pattern
• Elevated metals that bring quiet richness
• Thoughtful technology that enhances everyday living
• A balance of softness and structure
Every detail was chosen to tell a story of craftsmanship, comfort, and intentional design.
A: I wanted the space to feel warm, calm, and deeply connected to its surroundings. Laguna Beach has such beautiful light and natural texture, so I leaned into materials that feel organic, timeless, and layered.
A: I love combining timeless materials and beautiful hardware with smart, seamless technology. Incorporating Level allowed the home to feel intuitive and modern without compromising the aesthetic.
A: Hardware is like jewelry for the home — it’s functional but also a statement of craftsmanship and style. It’s one of the final touches that truly completes a space.
