Warranty Information

Mechanical Warranty:

Except as otherwise provided below, ASSA ABLOY, for its Baldwin® hardware brand products (“Baldwin”), warrants to the original residential purchaser (the “Purchaser”) that each Baldwin Estate product (the “Product(s)” or “Baldwin Product(s)”) shall be free of mechanical defects under normal use from the date of purchase for as long as the Purchaser occupies the residential premises upon which the Product was originally installed (“Warranty Period”). This Mechanical Limited Warranty applies only to Products purchased from Baldwin or a Baldwin authorized reseller, unless otherwise prohibited by law. Baldwin Products are legitimately sold only by authorized resellers who are required to follow Baldwin’s policies, procedures, and quality control standards. Baldwin reserves the right to reject warranty claims from purchasers for Products purchased from unauthorized sellers, including unauthorized Internet sites.

Electronic Warranty:

Baldwin Estate electronic products come with a 1 year electronic warranty to the original residential user of the product against defects in material and workmanship as long as the original user occupies the residential premises upon which the product was originally installed. This warranty does not cover scratches, abrasions, deterioration due to the use of paints, solvents or other chemicals, abuse, misuse, or product used in commercial applications. This Electronic Limited Warranty applies only to Products purchased from Baldwin or a Baldwin authorized reseller, unless otherwise prohibited by law. Baldwin Products are legitimately sold only by authorized resellers who are required to follow Baldwin’s policies, procedures, and quality control standards. Baldwin reserves the right to reject warranty claims from purchasers for Products purchased from unauthorized sellers, including unauthorized Internet sites.

Finish Warranty:

Finish Limited Warranty: The finish on Baldwin Products (excluding Lifetime PVD Finish and living finish Products, as set forth below) is protected by a durable topcoat designed to maintain the beauty and quality of the Baldwin Product. For Baldwin Estate Products purchased with a Finish Limited Warranty other than the Lifetime PVD Finish Limited Warranty or a living finish, Baldwin warrants to the Purchaser that the finish of the Product shall be free of defects in material and workmanship from tarnishing, flaking, and discoloring for either (a) five (5) years from the date of purchase for interior use or (b) one (1) year from the date of purchase for exterior use; as long as said Purchaser occupies the residential premises upon which the Product was originally installed (“Warranty Period”). No finish warranty is offered on Baldwin living finish products, which are designed to age and improve over time. Living finishes include raw brass, oil rubbed bronze, stainless steel, and other non-lacquered or non-PVD finishes. Atmospheric conditions can cause staining and alkaline etching that varies by geography. In addition, frequent use will cause the finish to gracefully age in appearance. These finish changes are not considered manufacturing defects and are not covered by this warranty. Rather, they are indicative of normal wear and tear and reflect the essence of a living finish. Due to the nature of Baldwin living finish products, they will wear over time and may already have begun the process before reaching your home.

For Baldwin Reserve Products purchased with a Limited Finish Warranty, Baldwin warrants to the Purchaser that the finish of the Product shall be free from defects in material and workmanship from tarnishing, flaking, and discoloring for twenty-five (25) years from the date of purchase as long as the said Purchaser occupies the residential premises upon which the Product was originally installed (“Warranty Period”). This Finish Limited Warranty applies only to Products purchased from Baldwin or a Baldwin authorized reseller, unless otherwise prohibited by law. Baldwin Products are legitimately sold only by authorized resellers who are required to follow Baldwin’s policies, procedures, and quality control standards. Baldwin reserves the right to reject warranty claims from purchasers for Products purchased from unauthorized sellers, including unauthorized Internet sites. If there are any differences between these Baldwin Reserve Limited Warranties and the warranties printed in marketing or other product materials, then the terms of these online Baldwin Reserve Limited Warranties supersede those in other materials.

For Baldwin Prestige Series Products purchased with a Limited Finish Warranty, Baldwin warrants to the Purchaser that the finish of the Product shall be free from defects in material and workmanship from tarnishing, flaking, pitting, and discoloring for the lifetime of the Product as long as the said Purchaser occupies the residential premises upon which the Product was originally installed (“Warranty Period”). This Finish Limited Warranty applies only to Products purchased from Baldwin or a Baldwin authorized reseller, unless otherwise prohibited by law. Baldwin Products are legitimately sold only by authorized resellers who are required to follow Baldwin’s policies, procedures, and quality control standards. Baldwin reserves the right to reject warranty claims from purchasers for Products purchased from unauthorized sellers, including unauthorized Internet sites. If there are any differences between these Baldwin Prestige Limited Warranties and the warranties printed in marketing or other product materials, then the terms of these online Baldwin Prestige Limited Warranties supersede those in other materials.

Finish Warranty:

Limited Lifetime PVD Finish™ Warranty: The Baldwin Lifetime finishes use advanced finishing technology (Physical Vapor Deposition) to create a finish highly resistant to the effects of weather and normal wear and tear. For Baldwin products purchased with Lifetime or PVD finishes, Baldwin warrants the finish shall be free from defects in material and workmanship from tarnishing, flaking, pitting, and discoloring for the lifetime of the applicable product as long as the original Purchaser occupies the residential premises upon which the product was originally installed.

Limited Finish Warranty: The finish on Baldwin products (excluding Lifetime PVD Finish and living finish products) is protected by a durable topcoat designed to maintain the beauty and quality of the Baldwin product. For Baldwin products purchased with a Limited Finish Warranty, Baldwin warrants the finish shall be free from defects in material and workmanship from tarnishing, flaking, and discoloring for either a) five (5) years from date of purchase for interior use or b) one (1) year from the date of purchase for exterior use; as long as the original Purchaser occupies the residential premises upon which the product was originally installed.

Finish Warranty:
Living Finishes: Baldwin Archetypes’ Villa, Chateau and Craftsman hardware uses the finest silicon and white bronze available for our solid bronze casting process. This old world process produces a variety of character lines, grains and textures reminiscent of the times that inspired each collection. Skilled artisans craft and hand patina each piece to achieve a rich bronze color that is then lightly coated with wax. The natural oxide utilized to create the Patina finish product is meant to age with time and is referred to as a living finish. Atmospheric conditions can cause staining and alkaline etching that varies by geography. In addition, frequency of use will cause the finish to gracefully age in appearance. These finish changes are not considered manufacturing defects and are not covered by this warranty. Rather, they are indicative of normal wear and tear and reflect the essence of a living finish. Due to the nature of Baldwin living finish products, they will wear over time and may already have begun the process before reaching your home. No finish warranty is offered on Baldwin living finish products, which are designed to age and improve over time. Living finishes include raw brass, oil rubbed bronze, stainless steel, and other non-lacquered or non-PVD finishes.
