Baldwin is a member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) National Partnership for Environmental Priorities, and was recognized by the Pennsylvania State Senate as "…a model which other businesses would do well to emulate.

"Berks County can certainly point with pride to this corporation that has dedicated itself to a pollution prevention/waste minimization program in order to improve our environment for future generations."

Beauty from Recycled Materials

Our manufacturing facility produces product using raw material containing primarily recovered metals*. Products from our other manufacturing sources contain a similarly high level of recycled content. Baldwin recycles 100% of all brass scrap generated here in Reading, and also recycles 100% of all hazardous wastes generated. Our electroplating lines utilize state of the art equipment to minimize raw material usage, and minimize waste generation. Water conservation practices result in a nearly 40% reduction in water usage with the attendant reduction in the treatment of rinse waters and generation of treatment by-products

*Recovered material content varies by product line but generally exceeds 95%.

  • We are honored to be able to play a small role in the healing process after 9/11. Our commemorative 9/11 ornaments featuring the American flag, the bald eagle emblem, and the maxim, "United We Stand" were very well received. We donated proceeds from the ornaments to the 9/11 fund.

  • Baldwin recently donated more than $1M in locks to Habitat for Humanity and our employees participated in building homes for underprivileged families. Baldwin has long been a partner of Habitat and fully support Habitat's mission to provide decent, safe and affordable housing.
  • We believe in the future of sustainable design and we are proud to be a part of the Hudson Passive Project, an energy conservation project that demonstrates the energy-saving potential of residential architecture. Baldwin's Lakeshore entryset, Baltimore entrance trim, and contemporary 5055 knob in Oil Rubbed Bronze and Polished Chrome were used throughout the Hudson Passive home.
